What each server quote really costs over 36 months

Enter your current bill and up to five bids. The calculator folds setup fees, promo-to-renewal jumps, price locks, extra IPv4, egress overage, add-ons and migration into one total, then names the lowest cost, the strongest SLA and the fastest delivery.

Sample scorecard. The current bill uses OVHcloud's published Advance-1 Gen 2026 price change (€104.99 to €159.99 per server per month). Bids A, B and C are hypothetical quotes built to show each kind of hidden cost. They are not real offers or closed deals.

Bid C saves $8,584 (12.1%) over 36 months against staying, and pulls ahead in month 20 once setup and migration are paid back.
Bid A has the lowest first monthly bill ($996) and costs $13,997 more than Bid C over 36 months.
The 10%/yr rise is an assumption. At 0%/yr, staying costs $64,508 and Bid C costs $62,590. The cheapest option does not change.

What to ask each provider

Stay: OVHcloud

  • Announced price change: EUR 104.99/mo → EUR 159.99/mo (+52%) from month 1.
  • No price lock. Modeled at 10%/yr from month 13; the provider can reprice at any renewal.
  • Not stated in quote: uptime SLA, SLA credit cap, hardware replacement time. Counted as $0 until the provider confirms.

Bid A

  • Promo price $99.00/mo for 3 mo, then $189.00/mo (+91%) from month 4.
  • No price lock. Modeled at 10%/yr from month 13; the provider can reprice at any renewal.
  • SLA credits capped at 10% of the monthly fee, whatever the length of the outage.

Bid B

  • Your 240 TB/mo exceeds the 200 TB included: $400.00/mo overage, $14,400.00 over 36 mo.
  • Price locked for 12 mo only. Modeled at 10%/yr after that.

Bid C

  • Setup fees $990.00 up front ($27.50/mo spread over 36 mo).

How the calculator works

What does the 36-month cost include?

Server rent month by month (promo price, then the base or renewal price, plus the yearly rise once a price lock ends), setup fees, extra IPv4, egress overage above the included allowance, add-ons such as RAID, OS licences, DDoS protection and support, and your one-time migration cost for each bid.

How is a price lock handled?

The yearly rise you enter is applied to rent on each contract anniversary (months 13 and 25) that falls after the lock ends. A lock that covers the whole horizon is never raised. The verdict also shows the result at 0% so you can see whether the assumption changes the winner.

What if a quote doesn't state a cost?

A blank cost counts as $0 and is listed under “What to ask each provider”, so a missing line never looks like a saving. Get the missing items in writing before you sign.

Are SLA credits subtracted from the cost?

No. Credits rarely cover the cost of an outage, so the scorecard ranks SLAs instead: higher uptime first, then faster hardware replacement, then a higher credit cap, then larger DDoS capacity.

How are GPU-hour quotes compared with monthly ones?

A GPU-hour rate is converted to a monthly rent at rate × GPUs per server × 730 hours.

Does RentServers.com rank its own Managed GPU offers higher?

No. A Managed GPU quote is labeled “Sold by RentServers”, must show our margin, and is ranked by exactly the same rules as every other quote.
